Finding Balance in Tavira: Inside All in Comunidade with Matt and Andre

When it comes to wellness, few places are as inspiring as Tavira — and few people as dedicated as Matt and Andre of All in Comunidade. We caught up with the duo behind this specialist yoga and Pilates centre to hear about their journey, the philosophy that drives their work, and why Tavira continues to be the perfect place for cultivating balance, movement, and connection.

Q: Tell us a little about yourselves?

Andre and I were married 12 years ago and met in Bali. We lived in New York and I've been there until we started spending more time in Portugal. Eventually we bought a house in the Algarve and now here we are.

Q: What inspired you to start, and how did you get involved?

I have been practicing hot yoga for 25 years and love it so much. The benefits for my body, but also my mind have been incredible over the last 25 years. I had realized there was nothing here like this and I wanted to be able to bring it to people so they can experience the benefits.

Andre has always loved Pilates and we also realized there was no reformer here in Tavira . So we decided to open All In Comunidade where we could bring the Expat community and the Portuguese community together to practice, yoga and Pilates.

Q: What do you think makes Tavira and the area such a unique place?

We think it is a small big city that offers all the convenience of being in a large town, but with a reduced population. Also the amazing beaches that are around make this place incredible.

Q: Do you have a favourite spot in this area that you think more people should know about?

Yes, The Table which has amazing food and coffee and also provides a co-Work space.

Q: What’s next for you in the area?

We are opening our second All in Comunidade, located next to The Table, which will feature reformer, Cadillac, barrel and chair.

Q: If you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

Matt - energetic, kind and loyal. 

Andre -  fabulous, gorgeous and confident, he says this with a smirk on his face!

Q: What’s your go-to order at a local restaurant or cafe?

 O Castelo salmon tartar and grilled chicken with salad and very crispy french fries.

Q: If you had a free day to explore or enjoy east Algarve, how would you spend it?

We like to go around to different parts of the Algarve and explore different areas we've never been.

Q: What’s a hidden talent or fun fact about you that most people don’t know?

Matt - I am a professional singer and did five Broadway shows in New York. I'm also a classical pianist.

Andre - I used to handle professional show dogs.
